Once we receive your completed application, your child will be scheduled for a visit.
Because visits look different at each level we have outlined what to expect below.
Toddler ( Ages 15 months - 3 Years Old )
Toddlers visiting the school for the first time come for a short visit in the classroom. As their start start date gets closer toddlers visit again during play time either on our playground or in the gymnasium. Each visit lasts about 20-30 minutes. During the first visit the toddler goes into the classroom with the teacher and on the second visit the parents stay with their child allowing the parent to talk with the teacher while their child plays with new friends. Finally the toddler teacher will reach out to the parents over the phone to answer and ask any final questions. This process helps make your child's first day a little easier for both of you.
Primary ( Ages 2 1/2 - 6 Years Old )
Primary age children visiting the school come for a visit in the classroom with the teacher. The visit last about 20-30 minutes and during this time the teacher will show your child a few lessons and get to know them. Children ages 4 or 5 and coming into Montessori for the first time may need to visit a second time as well. Visits help make your child's first day a bit more familiar.
While your child visits with the teacher the administrative staff will help answer any additional questions you may have and discuss next steps.
Elementary (Ages 6-12 Years Old)
The elementary child comes to visit the classroom for an entire school day. During this visit your child will work with the teacher and with the other children. The teacher will have the opportunity to observe your child in their work and talk with them a bit. This full day allows the teacher to better understand where your child is coming from in their development so she can better meet their needs.
